As I'm sure you know, my beloved Capitals didn't make the playoffs...again. Not much I can say about that.
I needed someone to root for in the playoffs, so I settled on the Ottawa Senators for no real reason other then there's no one on the team I don't dislike. Seriously. I mean, let's take a look at the four teams that made it to the division round and who I dislike on those teams:
Ducks: Chris Pronger. I do like the Niedermayer brothers, though.
Red Wings: Everybody.
Slugs: Everybody, especially their fans, and except for Zubie (ex-Cap) and Ryan Miller (had him on my fantasy team his rookie year).
I did my part for the Sens by hardly watching any of their games and listening to the Ottawa feed of the last game on XM. Yeah, the parking lot attendents at RFK thought we were stupid or something for yelling like idiots when Ottawa won that game.
However, I'm gonna have to change my good-luck routine for the Sens in the next round. Tradition dictates I do the same thing I was doing when they won, but let's be honest: Tailgating at RFK is pretty impractical. However, thanks to the magic of Google Earth, I can look at the spot where I was standing when they scored.
Fire up Google Earth and punch 38 53'07.63"N 76 58'12.97"W into the "Fly To" dialogue box (degree sign is not needed). That'll take you to a little concrete patch in lot 8 at RFK Stadium, where the gf, her mom, and I sat and ate our dinner while listening to Daniel Alfredsson squeeze one past Ryan Miller to send the Slugs fans home unhappy.
