I'm probably the only person in the Blogosphere who is commemorating this anniversary.
Seventy-six years ago today, Betty Boop made her first cartoon appearance, as a singer in a doggie nightclub. Yep, Miss Boop started life as a dog. Later, her ears transmogrified into earrings, she replaced the stockings with a single garter, and her dress got a little racier, but there's no mistaking the singer for anyone but Betty Boop.
And like damn near everything else in the world, "Dizzy Dishes" is available on YouTube. Betty makes her appearance at about the 2:30 mark:
